Academics -- Overall

Along with Sports, Cost and Quality of Life, Academics is one of the four major categories used to compare the schools. In order to get an overall comparison, the schools are compared on the following sub-categories:

SAT scores (highest to lowest)
Overall number of National Merit Scholars
Number of National Merit Scholars per student
Percentage of students who were in their top 10% of their high scool class
Percentage of applicants accepted (lowest to highest)
Number of faculty awards
Number of National Academy Members among the faculty
Number of National Academy Members among the faculty per student

Each school is then graded in each of the subcategories and then averaged for an overall score. They are then ranked numerically, with the results below.
